What to wear

  • Wear fitted clothes, such as leggings or slim trousers with a fitted T-shirt or vest. Loose, baggy clothes hide your shape and make the results come out too big.
  • Take off jackets, jumpers, belts and shoes, and empty your pockets.
  • Tuck in your top and tie long hair up, away from your neck and shoulders.

Where and how to take the photos

  • Stand in front of a plain, light wall with nothing around you.
  • Use bright, even light, with windows and lamps in front of you.
  • Ask someone to take the photos, or prop your phone up and use the timer.
  • Hold the phone upright at waist height, about 2.5 to 3 metres away, and keep it straight.
  • Fit your whole body in the photo, from the top of your head to your feet.

Your photos stay on your device. They are read in your browser and never uploaded or stored.

How to measure

Measure yourself accurately

Use a soft tape measure, stand relaxed, and keep the tape snug without pulling it tight.

  1. Step 1

    Chest or bust

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms, keeping it level across your back.

  2. Step 2

    Waist

Measure around your natural waist, the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above your belly button.

  3. Step 3

    Hips

Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.

  4. Step 4

    Inseam

Measure from the crotch to the ankle bone along the inside of your leg. A trouser that fits you well works as a guide.

Fit facts

Why measurements beat labels

Fit fact

Sizes vary between brands

The international sizing standard ISO 8559-2 notes that companies use different sizing systems, so different size labels can fit people with identical or very similar body measurements.

Your measurements are a more reliable guide than the letter on a label. Fit Yangu matches you by centimetres.

Fit fact

Good sizing starts with the body

ISO 8559 bases size designation on body measurements taken in a defined way, so a shopper who knows their own measurements can choose garments that fit.

Measure once, in store or at home, and use those numbers for every purchase.

Fit fact

Fit drives returns

Retail surveys consistently report incorrect size or poor fit as the leading reason shoppers return clothes bought online.

Ordering the right size first time saves you a trip back and a second delivery.
